Must Eat: Tar and Roses, Santa Monica, CA

A few weeks ago, decided to take a break from cooking and explore a new restaurant in our neighborhood. We heard that this fantastic new restaurant by Chef Andrew Kirshner - Tar & Roses - had recently opened and were excited to check it out.  We didn't have reservations, but it was still early, so we took a seat at a bar and enjoyed our tapas style meal!

I think J was won over once he saw that they had shishito peppers on the menu! Don't get me wrong, I love these as well. We order them whenever we see them.

Tar and Roses had a fantastic selection of charcuterie, cheese and bruschetta.  We also enjoyed the lamb belly appetizer. 

 We've concluded that almost every vegetable tastes better roasted, including

 Roasted Cabbage with fennel! 

Their Buccatini Carbonara was comforting and fun to eat.

My favorite was the dessert - Strawberry Ricotta Crostata with Honeycomb Ice Cream - people are raving about this one on yelp and once you have a bite of it, you will too!
